Fall Damage

Fall damage is a mechanic in Beasts of Bermuda that applies damage to the player when they fall from too high of a height. Both physical and injury damage are applied when the player takes a fall. If the player falls from a height that is too high, they will die, rather than take damage.

Different animals have different thresholds, or sensitivities, to fall damage. In general, smaller creatures are able to fall from higher heights before taking damage than larger ones. Additionally, animals that are semiamaquatic are much more susceptible than terrestrial creatures to fall damage. The Velociraptor is most capable of absorbing falls, and must fall from tremendous heights before taking damage. The Ichthyovenator, on the other end of the spectrum, is very poor at absorbing falls, and can be damaged quite easily from even a modest fall.

If a player takes fall damage and receives injury, they will move slower than normal. For this reason, a player who has recently fallen can be at risk for being killed by predators that are slower than they are under normal circumstances.
